French Country Style – All In the Details

I initially shared this project on Country Chic Paint’s blog page. They sent me their product in exchange, but all opinions are my own.

When I found this side table, I fell in love right away. She was curvy, and classy and gorgeous! But the blah and basic brown just wasn’t doing it for me.

The details just didn’t pop with all-over colour, so I chose to highlight the lines and carvings with a contrasting colour.

The all-over colour is Country Chic Paint’s All-In-One Decor Paint in the colour Elegance, and the details are the same paint in Hurricane.

I won’t pretend that hand painting recessed lines is quick and easy. It did take patience and a tiny detail brush. But I really think the extra effort was worth it!

Now those details just demand attention. I almost want to name this piece Marie Antoinette. A little French pale blue, some flirty curlicues. Let them paint lines!

To protect the finish, I sealed both horizontal surfaces with Country Chic Paint’s Tough Coat. It gives a slight sheen to the finish, and really protects your paint for years to come.

For more tips on keeping the main colour out of your lines, and how I made the top border so crisp, head to my blog on Country Chic Paint’s website. I saved that post for some of the extra details!
