Finding Treasures and Inspiration with Summer Markets

A couple of weekends ago, it was the annual Island Mavens Vintage Market. I went on Sunday with my friend Jonathan, a kindred spirit in all things vintage, antique and rusty! The market starts on Saturday, so we were worried that we would arrive on Sunday with nothing left, but we were far from disappointed!

On first arrival, the property’s gorgeous red barn set the scene for a farmhouse kind of day! I love a good theme. šŸ˜‰

All of the booths were decked out with vintage finery, one of a kind finds, and refinished furniture. Cue happy dance and instant desire for a larger budget!

Although every tent was fantastic, there were a few showstopper pieces that I wanted to take home with me on the spot.

These pieces were being sold by Talc White. The she mounted the hymnal printing block on barnwood and it is amaaaaazing!

But those silver shoe forms??? I collect cobbler items, and I want these in my collection in the worst way! I have never seen ones like this before – they. are. the. coolest.

This shelf hits all my must haves: architectural salvage, nice and rusty, and repurposed into something useful and beautiful. A Little Ruffles and Rust created these shelves alongside a carpenter. Gorgeous!!!

There were so many small treasures at Atlas Vintage! Baskets of my favourite, shoe forms! I took home 2 wooden shoe forms with leather heels.

I can’t wait until the market next year – maybe I will have my own booth! What is your favourite summer market this year?

XOXO Aubrey

  1. Now that is a market I’d love to go to! Those silver shoe forms are amazing! Lovely pics that make me drool! I don’t believe we have a market like that in Prince George that is held once a year, but what a great idea!
